π΄ Ngal'ayel Mukau boycotts the Leopards: FECOFA responds with determination!
Ngalβayel Mukau, midfielder for LOSC Lille, has once again made headlines, this time for an unexcused absence from the training camp of the Democratic Republic of Congo national team, currently preparing in OrlΓ©ans (France), despite having received an official call-up from the technical staff.
The Congolese squad is set to play two friendly matches in the coming days: the first on Thursday, June 5 against Mali, and the second on Sunday, June 8 versus Madagascar. These fixtures are part of their build-up for upcoming international competitions.
Mukau boycott: FECOFA takes a hard line
In a statement released on Monday, June 2, 2025, via its official channels, the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) announced the immediate exclusion of the player for the remainder of the camp, also warning that further disciplinary action could follow.
FECOFA emphasized that Mukauβs (20) conduct represents a serious breach of the teamβs internal regulations. The organization deemed this absence all the more unacceptable given that the other players had shown up with commitment and professionalism. The federation reminded everyone that discipline and respect for the team environment are essential pillars for the proper functioning of the national squad.
Official FECOFA statement
The Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) informs the public that player Ngalβayel Mukau did not report at the start of the national A teamβs training camp for the June FIFA window.
With this absence, the player has violated the internal regulations, which lay out the operating rules and obligations for players called up to the national team.
As a result, the technical staff has decided to end any possibility of the player rejoining the group during this international window and will enforce the disciplinary measures outlined in the teamβs rules.
FECOFA reiterates that respect for the team environment and collective commitment are fundamental values governing the DR Congo national team.
This isnβt the first time Ngal'ayel Mukau has made headlines for the wrong reasons on international duty. Back in March, frustrated by his limited playing time during the World Cup qualifiers, he deleted all photos of himself wearing the Congolese jersey from his social media accounts.
