The Madrid club specified that the former Spanish international will be presented this Monday, May 26, during a ceremony at Ciudad Real Madrid. His contract will come into effect on June 1, 2025, for a period of three seasons.
In its statement, Real Madrid emphasized that Alonso is among the club’s and world football’s great legends. Between 2009 and 2014, he played 236 official matches in the famous white shirt, winning six major trophies: the mythical tenth Champions League title, a UEFA Super Cup, a La Liga title, two Copa del Rey trophies, and a Spanish Super Cup.
The club also highlighted Alonso’s remarkable coaching career, especially with Bayer Leverkusen, whom he led to a historic Bundesliga treble: league, cup, and super cup across three seasons.
It’s worth noting that Xabi Alonso will make his Real Madrid managerial debut at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for mid-June in the United States—just 24 days before the official start of the tournament.
