🔴 U17 AFCON: Cameroon eliminated!

Cameroon will not see the quarter-finals of the U17 AFCON! Condemned to win against Egypt and hope for a South Africa defeat against Burkina Faso, the Indomitable Lion Cubs were beaten 2-1 this Sunday in Mohammedia (Morocco), after a thrilling yet cruel match.

Reduced to ten men from the 25th minute after Chris Ntamack Pondy was sent off for a last-man foul, the Cameroonians still managed to open the scoring with a penalty converted by André Emini Zibi (33rd minute).

But the young Egyptian squad, also vying for a playoff spot for the U17 World Cup, responded just before halftime: Hamza Abdelkarim equalized with a penalty (43rd minute).

The Lion Cubs finish last in Group B!

After the break, Cameroon tried to regain the upper hand but lacked precision. In contrast, the Pharaohs capitalized on an error by goalkeeper Junior Lopez Abou to score the winning goal through Abdelaziz El Zoghbi (67th minute).

Cameroon pushed until the end, believing they had equalized in the 88th minute, but Emini Zibi was flagged offside.

Result: the Lion Cubs finish last in Group B, missing both the AFCON quarter-finals and the World Cup playoff spot.
