This Sunday evening, all eyes will be on the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, where Senegal will face the Democratic Republic of Congo in the opening matchday of the 2025 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

This clash, one of the most anticipated fixtures kicking off the tournament, is set to begin at 14:00 GMT.

Shahenda El Maghrabi to referee Senegal - DR Congo

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Egyptian international referee Shahenda El Maghrabi to officiate the match, assisted by her compatriot Yara Atef and Tunisia’s Hoda Afini. Tunisian Dorra Jannati will serve as fourth official, while Libya’s Ahmed Abdul Razzaq will be in charge of VAR, assisted by Egyptian Hossam Haggag.

The tournament kicked off yesterday, Saturday, with a thrilling encounter between Morocco and Zambia, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Additionally, CAF has announced an increase in prize money, with one million dollars awarded to the winner, underscoring its ongoing commitment to women’s football.

It’s also worth noting that beIN Sports will broadcast the entire competition exclusively for the Middle East and North Africa, giving fans full access to every match.
