2026 World Cup - Germany: federation president breaks the silence
Germany's elimination in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup against Paraguay has sent shockwaves through the country.
The president of the German Football Association, Bernd Neuendorf, has responded. In a statement, he acknowledged that the Mannschaft's performances "did not live up to expectations after the crushing defeat to Paraguay" following discussions with head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
According to him, a thorough analysis will be conducted in the coming days to understand why the team failed to reach its potential. "After such a setback, and given the challenges that lie ahead, we cannot and will not simply carry on as if nothing happened. We thank all the fans who supported us so wonderfully in the United States and Canada, as well as those back home. We are all deeply disappointed that our journey together ends so soon," the statement continued.
