2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers: Ethiopia squad announced to face São Tomé and Príncipe

With the preliminary round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers fast approaching, the coach of the Ethiopian national team announced on March 11 a 23-man squad in preparation for the clash against São Tomé and Príncipe.

This two-legged encounter carries significant weight for head coach Yohannes Sahle and his players. The "Walia"—absent from the last two editions—are eager to make a powerful return to the African stage.

These matches also present a personal challenge for coach Yohannes Sahle, who will lead his first official games since his appointment as Walia's head coach on December 27.

The first leg will take place on March 27, 2026, at the "El Abdi" Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco, while the return leg is set for March 31 at the recently renovated Dire Dawa Stadium, which was just approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
