AS Saint-Étienne officially announced on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the signing of Lassana Traoré. The young attacking midfielder, developed at Diambars FC, has committed to Les Verts on a three-year deal.

“Lassana Traoré joins ASSE for his first experience away from his native country. The left-back also signs his first professional contract, tying him to the Forez club until 2029,” announced the Stéphanois club this evening.

Fresh out of the renowned Diambars FC academy, Lassana Traoré is set to take a major step forward in his budding career. AS Saint-Étienne has offered him the chance to break into European football with a professional deal. The 18-year-old won’t need to go through the reserves, as he “will join the first team for preseason training from Thursday, June 19, the date Eirik’s squad returns,” AS Saint-Étienne reported.

Traoré made his mark in youth competitions with the Senegal national team. He notably took part in the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, which the Lionceaux de la Teranga won, and in the 2025 U20 AFCON.
