A major surprise... Is Marc Brys the next Al Nassr coach?
The Saudi club Al Nassr, home to global stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané, could be on the verge of a significant technical shake-up. With persistent rumors swirling about the imminent departure of Italian coach Stefano Pioli, who is tipped for a return to Fiorentina, the name of Marc Brys, current head coach of Cameroon, is gaining serious traction as a potential successor.
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Jazirah, Pioli has reached a preliminary agreement with Fiorentina, paving the way for a new era at the Saudi club.
Brys, a familiar face in Saudi Arabia
According to Belgian media, particularly the daily Het Laatste Nieuws, Al Nassr is closely monitoring Marc Brys, who has been in charge of the Cameroon national team since April 2024. At 63 years old, the Belgian tactician is no stranger to the Middle East: he has previously managed several Saudi clubs, including Al-Faisaly, Al-Raed, and Najran.
Under his leadership, the "Indomitable Lions" have enjoyed a string of positive results, clinching qualification for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, set to be held in Morocco. However, his tense relationship with the Cameroon Football Federation, particularly with its president Samuel Eto’o, might prompt him to seek a new challenge far from internal strife.
