A Summer Saga in the Making? Guirassy’s €70M Clause Could Spark Premier League Bidding War

Serhou Guirassy could be set for high profile move this summer as German outlet BILD's revealed the existence of 70 million euro release clause in the Borussia Dortmund striker’s contract bonus included.

The clause becomes active this summer making the red hot guinean forward one of the most talked about names ahead of the transfer window.

Record Breaking Season Puts Guirassy in Spotlight

Guirassy's enjoying phenomenal campaign, boasting:

  • 28 goal and 9 assist in 40 matches across all competitions
  • A Champions League leading 13 goals, a new club record for Dortmund

Despite his heroics, Dortmund crashed out of the champions league 5 - 3 on aggregate to Barcelona with Guirassy netting hattrick in the 2nd leg to nearly spark miraculous comeback.

“It’s a shame the gap was too big in the first leg. Being the top scorer means a lot but it’s all thanks to the team” Guirassy said post match.

Chelsea Eyeing a Summer Swoop

According to Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger, Chelsea are one of the clubs with the financial power to activate the clause reportedly valued between 51 – 64 million Pound Steling (60 – 70 million euro). With manager Enzo Maresca prioritizing new striker after disappointing season, Guirassy's emerged as top target.

  • Nicolas Jackson's missed 16 games & scored just 9 goals in 27 appearances
  • Marc Guiu & Christopher Nkunku've also struggled for consistency up front
  • Guirassy offers elite finishing, physicality and big game experience

Premier League Dream?

Guirassy's long expressed interest in playing in england and with Arsenal & Manchester United previously linked, Chelsea may need to act fast to avoid bidding war. Dortmund, meanwhile are reluctant to let him go but would be powerless if the clause is triggered.

What’s Next?

  • Contract until 2028 gives Dortmund leverage on paper but the release clause resets the market
  • Talks of new improved deal haven't emerged, hinting the player could be ready for the next step
  • If Chelsea fail to land younger target like Liam Delap, the experienced Guirassy offers plug and play solution
