Ahmed Hassan's birthday: The four-time African champion celebrates his 50th

Born on May 2, 1975, legendary Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Hassan, the all-time record holder for most Africa Cup of Nations titles, celebrates his 50th birthday this Friday.

The all-time record holder for national team appearances in both Egypt and Africa (184 caps), former Al Ahly SC playmaker Ahmed Hassan boasts an awe-inspiring trophy cabinet with the "Pharaohs"—four Africa Cup of Nations titles (1998, 2006, 2008, 2010), an African record.

The Egyptian legend was also named AFCON Player of the Tournament in both the 2006 and 2010 editions.

One of the greatest in African football history

At club level, despite a remarkable European adventure with stints in Turkey (1998-2006 at Beşiktaş) and Belgium (2006-2008), his greatest exploits are tied to his homeland, notably three Egyptian Premier League titles and two CAF Champions League trophies with Al Ahly.

While hoping another star from the "Mother Continent" will one day match his legacy, we wish a happy birthday to one of the greatest midfielders in African football history!
