Al Ahly Face Coaching Dilemma After CAF Champions League Heartbreak

Al Ahly are preparing to part ways with Swiss coach Marcel Koller following the team's disappointing elimination from the CAF Champions League semi finals at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Red Devils were knocked out after:
- A 0 - 0 draw in South Africa.
- A 1 - 1 draw at Cairo International Stadium.
This marks the 1st time since 2020 that Al Ahly miss out on reaching the CAF champions league final.
Queiroz the Favorite, But Drama Unfolds
According to reports, former Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz's now the leading candidate to replace Koller. However talks took unexpected twist when Queiroz made shocking demand:
He wants to only take charge during the FIFA club world cup.
Al Ahly'll compete at the expanded FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in the USA from 15 Jun to 13 Jul.
The club's leadership's reportedly unimpressed by this condition and are leaning towards rejecting Queiroz’s proposal.
Other Candidates Fall Away
The source also confirmed:
- Brian Priske (Denmark) is no longer candidate due to failure to reach agreement.
- Jose Gomes, current manager of Al Fateh in Saudi Arabia, is also unlikely to take over.
With Marcel Koller's era seemingly coming to end and Carlos Queiroz complicating talks, Al Ahly now face critical decision as they prepare for one of the most important tournaments in the club’s history.
