Al Ahly President Mahmoud El Khatib to Return to Cairo Amid League Controversy

Mahmoud El Khatib President of Al Ahly, is set to return to Cairo on Saturday following the Egyptian Olympic Committee’s decision to uphold the rulings of the professional clubs association.

Change in Travel Plans

A Report revealed that El Khatib who's currently performing Umrah, had initially planned to travel directly to Abu Dhabi for medical treatment but has altered his schedule to return to Cairo instead.

While no emergency board meetings were held, phone discussions took place regarding Al Ahly’s stance on continuing the egyptian premier league. The final decision's expected upon El Khatib’s return.

League Sanctions Confirmed

The Egyptian Olympic Committee confirmed the league’s decision to award Zamalek 3 - 0 victory over Al Ahly and deduct 3 additional point at the end of the season due to Al Ahly’s withdrawal from the scheduled Mar 11 fixture.
