Al Ahly Pursuit of Jose Gomes Remains Uncertain as Coach Stays Committed to Al Fateh

Portuguese coach Jose Gomes's finally addressed reports linking him with the managerial job at Egyptian giants Al Ahly following speculation about his possible role in the Club World cup 2025 in the United States.
"I Respect My Contract" - Gomes Speaks Out
Gomes who previously coached Zamalek and led them to Confederation cup & African Super cup double in 2024 was seen as strong candidate for Al Ahly due to his familiarity with egyptian football.
However in televised interview with MBC Action, the Al Fateh boss said:
“I still have contract with Al Fateh and I fully respect it. My focus's solely on our goals here. I'm not thinking about any other offers or destinations at the moment” He said.
Door Still Open for Future Move?
Despite his firm stance, Gomes didn’t completely shut the door on Al Ahly:
“In football, anything is possible. But now is not the right time to discuss it”
The remarks leave room for future developments especially as Al Ahly continues its search for permanent coach following the departure of Swiss manager Marcel Koller.
Currently club legend Emad El Nahhas's in charge and has guided the Cairo powerhouse to the top of the egyptian premier league standings.
