Al Ahly Star Zizo Admits Mistake Before Leaving Zamalek
Egyptian winger Ahmed Mostafa Zizo's admitted to making major mistake during his final days at Zamalek revealing that his controversial visit to the U.S embassy last April created tension with fans before his free transfer to Al Ahly.
Embassy Visit Sparks Speculation
In interview on "El Kora Ma'a Faik" on MBC Masr2 Zizo explained:
"The embassy incident was my biggest and only mistake in my final months at Zamalek"
His appearance at the American embassy sparked rumors of imminent move to Al Ahly especially with the Cairo giants set to appear in the fifa Club World cup 2025 in the U.S.
Clarification from the Player
Zizo explained he applied for U.S visa as precaution:
"Several clubs playing in the Club World cup approached me since I was free agent. I got the visa just in case. Even if I didn’t join one of them, I planned to attend the tournament as a spectator"
Poor Timing Before Big Match
The timing, however couldn’t have been worse:
"It was just 24 hour before Zamalek’s CAF Confederation cup quarterfinal against Stellenbosch. I regret the timing"
The move to Al Ahly has since triggered wave of reactions from Zamalek fans adding even more drama to egyptian football's fiercest rivalry.
