Al Ahly steps up pursuit of Soufiane Benjdida and overtakes Pyramids
Al Ahly has launched a concrete offensive to sign Moroccan striker Soufiane Benjdida, currently playing for MAS Fès, in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Egyptian club, however, faces stiff competition from Pyramids FC, who are also keen on the forward.
After a standout season in the Botola Pro, Benjdida has established himself as one of the most promising strikers in the Moroccan league. In 21 matches, he has netted 15 goals and provided two assists.
Benjdida at the heart of a battle between Al Ahly and Pyramids
According to several Egyptian media outlets, notably the newspaper "Youm7", Al Ahly's management has decided to increase their offer to gain the upper hand in this race. After an initial bid estimated at $1.75 million, the Cairo club is now reportedly ready to offer $2.5 million to convince MAS Fès.
Versatile, Soufiane Benjdida can play both as a central striker and on the wings. This versatility is highly valued by Al Ahly, while his market value is estimated at €1.30 million according to Transfermarkt.
The same sources report that Al Ahly has intensified discussions with the player and his entourage in recent days to get ahead of other suitors, particularly Pyramids FC.
For his part, Benjdida is reportedly open to the idea of making his first move abroad, especially with a club of Al Ahly's stature, which now appears to be the front-runner to seal the deal.
