Al Nassr Still Negotiating, But Ronaldo Could Join Saudi Rival Club
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future in Saudi Arabia's taken new twist as reports confirmed that talks are underway to keep the global superstar in the Saudi Pro League next season but with different club.
Exit from Al Nassr on the Horizon?
The 40 year old’s contract with Al Nassr expires on 30 Jun and recent cryptic remarks from Ronaldo, hinting that "a chapter's closed but the story continues" have sparked speculation about his departure from the Riyadh based club.
According to AFP, quoting source cited by Marca on Thursday, "difficult negotiations" are ongoing to convince Ronaldo to remain in Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal and AFC Champions league winners Al Ahli emerging as leading contenders for his signature especially with both clubs preparing for the 2025 Club World cup.
Nassr Still Hopeful
Earlier today Al Nassr sporting director Fernando Hierro stated that the club's still negotiating with Ronaldo over possible extension.
Value Hits All Time Low
Amid the uncertainty, Ronaldo’s market value's dropped to 12 million euro, its lowest point since 2002 according to Transfermarkt.
This marks sharp fall from previous highs including his 94 million euro move to Real Madrid in 2009 and 100 million euros transfer to Juventus in 2018.
Career Transfer Fees Near €250M
Over his illustrious career, Ronaldo's amassed 247 million euro in total transfer fees, testament to his enduring appeal despite the natural decline in market valuation.
