Al-Ahly – Inter Miami: FIFA on high alert to save Club World Cup opener!

The spotlight will be on Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium in the United States on June 15, as Cairo’s Al-Ahly, one of Africa’s premier representatives, faces off against Inter Miami led by Argentine superstar Lionel Messi in the opening match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite the magnitude of the event and the presence of a global icon like Messi, ticket sales have been sluggish. With attendance figures deemed disappointing, FIFA has sprung into action to prevent the stadium from echoing with empty seats.

According to a report by The Athletic, confirmed by RMC Sport, fewer than 25,000 tickets have been sold so far for a venue that can accommodate over 65,000 spectators.

FIFA selling tickets for just €3.50…

In an effort to boost sales, FIFA has slashed prices three times, dropping the original €306 ticket down to just €50. Even more striking, a joint initiative with Miami Dade University now allows students to purchase tickets for a mere €3.50, with four additional tickets thrown in for every reservation.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino sought to allay concerns: “We will fill the stadium and the atmosphere will be electric. Tickets are still available, but we’re confident sales will pick up in the coming days.”

This unprecedented showdown is set to kick off at midnight GMT on June 15, which is 4 a.m. Cairo time.
