Algeria: Benzema stirs up France once again!
Karim Benzema, striker for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, posted a photo on his Instagram account this Tuesday, December 24, via the "Story" feature, once again appearing in the jersey of the Algerian national team.
Benzema has repeatedly shown up wearing the "Fennecs" shirt and expressing his support for the Algerian squad on his social networks ever since he was sidelined from the French national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, officially due to injury and fitness concerns—a move that led to his replacement by Olivier Giroud, now a forward for Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Algeria shirt Benzema wore today, emblazoned with his name and the number "9", was a gift from former Fennecs captain Yacine Brahimi during Benzema's visit to the Algerian training camp in Sidi Moussa.
Some interpret Benzema's recurring appearances in the Algerian jersey as a nod to his Algerian roots, while others see it as a coded message to dual-nationality talents, encouraging them to don the "Fennecs" kit in the future.

It's worth recalling that the former Real Madrid star, now 36, is the son of Hafid Benzema and Wahida Djabara, both of Algerian origin from the commune of Aït Djellil in the Béjaïa province. His grandfather emigrated to France with his family and settled in Lyon, before Benzema ultimately chose to represent France rather than Algeria at international level.
