Riyad Mahrez then doubled the lead from the penalty spot, before a third goal rounded off a flawless first half (3-0).
After the break, the momentum stayed firmly with Algeria. Right from the restart, Rayan Aït-Nouri delivered a perfect cross for Houssem Aouar, who netted the fourth goal. Minutes later, Aouar turned provider for Gouiri, who bagged his brace (5-0). On the hour mark, Vladimir Petković made several substitutions, notably bringing on Farès Ghedjemis and Nadhir Benbouali.
The fresh legs proved decisive. Ghedjemis scored the sixth on a pass from Benbouali, before Benbouali himself found the net on his debut, sealing the score at 7-0. It was a total footballing exhibition from the Fennecs, who now confirm their growing momentum ahead of a much sterner test against Uruguay.
