Algerian Pride: Aït-Nouri Follows Mahrez’s Path to Manchester City
Manchester City've officially signed Rayan Ait Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers, marking key addition to their defensive line ahead of the 2025 - 26 season.
The 24 year old Algerian left back's penned 5 year contract running until summer 2030.
While financial terms were not disclosed, British media estimate the deal at around 33.7 million pound sterling (45.7 million dollar).
From Paris Suburbs to Premier League Star
Born in Montreuil just east of Paris, Ait Nouri’s football journey began in local academies before joining Angers at 14.
He made his Ligue 1 debut at 17 against Neymar and Mbappe , calling it life changing moment. At 19 he moved to Wolves where he became fan favorite over 4 full seasons.
Choosing Algeria Over France
In Jan 2023 Ait Nouri chose to represent Algeria, citing his roots and family ties. He debuted for the Desert Warriors 3 month later and was part of their AFCON 2023 squad.
"I always visited Algeria as child. At home, we spoke only Arabic. It’s my identity" he told City’s official website.
