Andreas Hountondji returns to Burnley

Good news for Andreas Hountondji. The Beninese international striker is back at Burnley FC after a loan spell at Standard Liège. The English club, which was relegated to the Championship but quickly bounced back up, has officially included him on its retained list for the 2025/26 season.

At 22, Andreas Hountondji returns with greater maturity. In Belgium, he earned valuable playing time, strung together matches, and confirmed his attacking talent. Four goals, one assist, but above all, a consistent presence: 28 appearances across all competitions this season.

The Cheetah will now have to carve out a place for himself in a squad where competition is fierce. He joins a larger group of players returning from loan, including Zeki Amdouni and Han-Noah Massengo. But his profile—built on speed and determination—could catch the eye of the Clarets’ staff. Andreas Hountondji has an opportunity to seize. It’s up to him to turn this chance into a lasting springboard for his career.
