As a precaution, Abdelli and Guitoun leave Algeria’s training camp!
Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic (61), decided Tuesday evening to release Himad Abdelli and Kevin Guitoun from the current Algeria national team camp after consulting with the medical staff. The decision was made with player welfare in mind, following an exhausting and physically demanding season.
In an official statement, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced that the decision followed thorough physical assessments for both players, which showed the need to rest them in order to avoid any complications that could impact their future fitness.
This move is part of a new technical approach adopted by Petkovic, aiming to protect players by not fielding those suffering from fatigue or physical overload, especially during the preparation period ahead of friendly matches.
Abdelli and Guitoun will now enjoy a well-deserved break, giving them the chance to fully recover their physical form ahead of the new season with their respective clubs—reducing the risk of injuries that could hinder their progress.
