Aston Villa Furious After "Shocking" Ref Call Ends Champions League Dreams

Aston Villa have officially announced plans to file complaint to the Premier League over what they described as "major refereeing error" during their 2 - 0 defeat to Manchester United , an error they say cost them a Champions league spot.

What Happened?

At 0 - 0, Villa believed they'd opened the scoring when Morgan Rogers stole the ball from Altay Bayindir and found the net.

However referee Thomas Bramall blew his whistle early claiming Bayindir'd full control of the ball , something replays clearly showed wasn’t true.

Because the whistle came before the ball crossed the line, VAR could not intervene, sparking outrage from Villa players & manager Unai Emery.

From Hope to Despair

Just minutes later, Amad Diallo scored for United followed by late Christian Eriksen penalty, sealing the win and crushing Villa’s top 4 hopes. Villa finished 6th , level on points but behind on goal difference.

What Villa Said

Director of Football Damien Vidagany slammed the decision:

"We’ll file formal complaint , not just about the goal but about the referee’s appointment. This was decisive game and Bramall lacks the required experience"

Coach Unai Emery echoed the frustration:

"The replay's crystal clear. It was huge error. But we must accept it painful as it is"

The Bigger Picture

The result lifted United to 15th while Villa missed golden chance to return to the Champions league.
