The debate over Lamine Yamal and Lionel Messi is already heating up. At just 18 years old, Barcelona's prodigy is turning heads, but for Frenkie de Jong, the pecking order is obvious.

"I believe I will never see anyone else reach Lionel Messi's level. Lamine Yamal has an incredible amount of talent, he can become the best player in the world, and he could do it several times over his career. Ever since I was a kid, I've watched Messi play. He's the greatest footballer I've ever seen, and no other player even comes close to his level," he said.

He added:

"I hope Lamine Yamal can also become the best player in the world."

While the Spaniard represents the future, for now, Messi remains the untouchable benchmark in the history of the Catalan club.
