Vozinha wants to change course and is closing in on RS Berkane
Announced by Colo-Colo after his remarkable World Cup, Vozinha now appears to have changed course and is reportedly closing in on RS Berkane.
The Vozinha saga has taken a totally unexpected twist. A free agent since his contract with Chaves ended, the Cape Verdean goalkeeper was officially unveiled by Colo-Colo. The Chilean club even welcomed him on their social media accounts.
However, the deal is not yet fully wrapped up. The 40-year-old shot-stopper is said to have postponed his trip to Santiago—where he was supposed to undergo his medical and finalize his signing—on three separate occasions. He has reportedly changed his plans in light of a move from RS Berkane.
Berkane trying to outmaneuver Colo-Colo
According to Globoesporte, the Moroccan club has made significant progress in this pursuit. RS Berkane is also said to be closing in on Bubista, Cape Verde's national team coach during the World Cup. An agreement has reportedly been reached with the coach ahead of an official offer being prepared for Vozinha.

The goalkeeper is now said to be waiting for this proposal before giving his final approval. A move to Berkane would allow him to reunite with Bubista and compete in the CAF Champions League. Colo-Colo, who thought they had secured his signature, are now caught off guard. Until the medical and contract are finalized, the transfer to Chile cannot be considered a done deal.
One of the darlings of the 2026 World Cup
The interest from RS Berkane can largely be explained by Vozinha's outstanding performances at the 2026 World Cup. As a mainstay of Cape Verde's first-ever World Cup squad, he notably made seven saves in their draw against Spain.
The goalkeeper then helped guide the Blue Sharks to a heroic exit against Argentina in the knockout stage. Despite a 3-2 loss after extra time, Vozinha once again stood out with several crucial interventions, including stops against Lionel Messi.
His performances and charismatic personality also triggered a spectacular surge in his popularity. His Instagram following reportedly skyrocketed from less than 50,000 to nearly 30 million during the tournament. Now one of the World Cup’s fan favorites, the veteran represents a signing that is as valuable for RS Berkane on the pitch as it is off it.
