Barcelona abandon the idea of signing Ademola Lookman and make a move for a Spanish winger
In the past few weeks, Nigerian Ademola Lookman has been linked to La Liga giants, Barcelona FC.
The interest comes as the Spanish club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming season, having achieved the domestic treble by winning La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey in German coach Hans Flick's first season with the club.
But that has changed, according to reports in recent hours, and Lookman is expected to leave Bergamo this summer and there are plenty of clubs interested in his signature as well.
Here are some of the names that have shown real interest in the Nigerian player.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are the names that have shown real interest in signing the talented Nigerian. The last club to be interested in the player was Barcelona, but things have now changed and the Catalan giants have turned their attention to another target to strengthen their squad.
Hans Flick is said to have suggested Ademola's name to the management as they met with the German coach in order to get a final decision on strengthening the left-wing position.
What happened
Reports from Onze, citing Monfort Carlos, reveal that Barcelona have initiated discussions with Nico Williams' agent regarding a potential summer move, though no agreement has been reached yet.
The 22-year-old Athletic Bilbao winger—who will turn 23 this month—enjoys a close friendship with Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, with the duo showcasing strong chemistry while playing together for the Spanish national team. Williams is coming off an impressive season, registering 11 goals and 7 assists across 45 appearances for his club.
While the Blaugrana maintain interest, they are reportedly evaluating other options in case a deal fails to materialize.
