Bayer Leverkusen: Erik ten Hag to replace Xabi Alonso?

Bayer Leverkusen is already planning for life after Xabi Alonso. With the Spanish tactician heavily tipped to join Real Madrid, the newly crowned German champions are exploring several options. And among the candidates, there’s a surprise name: Erik ten Hag.

According to Sky Sport Germany, the Dutchman is on the BayArena management’s shortlist. While no formal talks have taken place yet, the club is actively gathering information on the former Manchester United manager. Ten Hag’s track record speaks volumes: he built a dazzling Ajax side between 2017 and 2021, before moving to lead the Red Devils, though his tenure in Manchester produced more mixed results.

Leverkusen’s stock has soared in recent seasons. With a historic Bundesliga title, a Champions League berth secured, and a young, talented squad, the project is an enticing one. The name of Imanol Alguacil, manager of Real Sociedad, has also been mentioned.
