Belahmri joins the "Lions of the Atlas" to face Tanzania!
The coach of the Moroccan national football team, Walid Regragui, has called up Youssef Belahmri (26), a player from Raja Club Athletic, to join the "Lions of the Atlas" training camp ahead of the match against Tanzania, scheduled for Tuesday, March 25. This match is part of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
This call-up comes after the hard-fought victory of Achraf Hakimi's teammates against Niger (2-1) last Friday. Thanks to this success, the Moroccan national team remains at the top of Group E with 12 points, maintaining a perfect record so far.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced this call-up through an official statement published on its website:
"The national coach, Mr. Walid Regragui, has called up Youssef Belahmri, a player from Raja Club Athletic, to join the national team's preparation camp ahead of the match against Tanzania on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, as part of the African qualifiers for the World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Note that this match between the national team and its Tanzanian counterpart will take place at the municipal stadium of Oujda, starting at 9:30 PM."
Regragui grants a rest day to the Lions
Walid Regragui has granted a rest day to the national team players on Saturday, following their efforts in the match against Niger. Training will resume on Sunday evening at 9:30 PM at the SaΓ―dia sports center. The final training session, scheduled for Monday, will be open to the media.
Keen to confirm their status as 2022 World Cup semi-finalists in Qatar, Morocco aims for a victory against Tanzania to directly secure their ticket to the 2026 World Cup, thus becoming the first African nation to qualify.
