Breaking: Abde Ezzalzouli is expected to miss the first World Cup match with the Moroccan national team!
Knee and ligament injuries are the most difficult in the world for players, and currently one of the most important players of the Moroccan national team: Abde Ezzalzouli, a few days before the 2026 World Cup.
On Sunday, June 7, during Morocco’s friendly clash with Norway, Abde Ezzalzouli picked up an injury that has since cast doubt on his involvement in the World Cup, set to begin on June 11. While it no longer seems he will be ruled out of the entire tournament, the Atlas Lions will have to start their World Cup journey without him. After additional medical scans revealed a moderate ligament sprain in his knee, he is now predicted to spend two to four weeks on the sidelines—an absence that likely means he will miss all group-stage matches.
That said, the Moroccan medical team hasn’t lost hope. They are determined to do whatever it takes to have Ezzalzouli ready should the team advance beyond the group phase and into the round of 32.
