CAF Champions League top scorers ranking: Pyramids star claims the top spot!

The Egyptian club Pyramids has won the African Champions League for the current season, clinching a 2-1 victory over South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns in the return leg at the Al-Difaâ Al-Jawiya Stadium in Cairo.

Fiston Mayele opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, before Ahmed Sami doubled the lead with a header from a set-piece. Mamelodi Sundowns pulled one back in the 75th minute through Iqraam Rayners.

The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw, allowing Pyramids to triumph with an aggregate score of 3-2 and to lift this trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

Pyramids thus becomes the fourth Egyptian club to win this prestigious competition, joining Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Ismaily. Egypt remains, to this day, the only country with four different clubs crowned African champions.

Notably, Pyramids will face Renaissance de Berkane, the Moroccan champions, in the 2025 CAF Super Cup. The club will also compete in the Intercontinental Cup, where they will take on the winner of the clash between Al Ahly, the Asian champions, and Auckland City, the champions of Oceania.
