CAF Confederation Cup: It's time for the grand final!

This Saturday night, the city of Berkane will pulse to the rhythm of the highly anticipated first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final.

On the turf of the Municipal Stadium, RS Berkane will host Tanzania's Simba SC for a crucial opening showdown. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. GMT.

Two in-form contenders, one shared goal: continental glory

RS Berkane come into this showdown riding a wave of momentum. Fresh from clinching their first ever Moroccan league title, the Oranges are on a three-game winning streak and are hungry to add another continental trophy to their cabinet.

On the other side, Simba SC are brimming with confidence as well. Currently second in the Tanzanian Premier League, the Lions have strung together four straight victories.

Favorites on paper, Moroccans know what awaits

The squad led by Tunisian head coach Mouine Chaabani holds a theoretical edge: a well-managed season, a solid roster, and proven experience on the big stage. Their emphatic display against CS Constantine in the quarterfinals (4-0 in the first leg, 4-1 on aggregate) is still fresh in fans’ minds.

Yet, nothing is ever guaranteed in football. Simba SC, contesting their first ever continental final, are dreaming of a historic upset.

Back in 2022, the Dar es Salaam giants proved they could trouble Berkane, defeating them 1-0 in the group stage. The stakes were lower then, but the warning shot was real.

Berkane chasing a continental treble

Victorious in 2020 and 2022, RS Berkane now have their sights set on a third star, eager to etch their name even deeper into African football history.

At home, in front of their passionate supporters, the Berkanis will be determined to seize the advantage before what promises to be a fiery return leg in Tanzania.
