This Friday, May 2, marks the kickoff for Group C in the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which has been underway in Egypt since April 27. The U20 squads from Senegal, Central African Republic, DR Congo, and Ghana will all play their opening matches of the tournament.

Senegal kicks things off against Central African Republic

Defending champions Senegal begin their title defense against Central African Republic at 15:00 GMT at the Suez Stadium. The Young Lions are aiming for a strong start in this Group C, where every point will be crucial in the race for a quarter-final spot. Central African Republic, brought in following Congo's suspension, are set for their third appearance at the U20 AFCON after 2021 and 2023, and hope to cause an upset against a seasoned opponent.

DR Congo faces Ghana in the evening

At 18:00 GMT, again in Suez, DR Congo takes on Ghana in their tournament opener. The U20 Leopards, led by Guy Bukasa, are looking to spring a surprise against the Black Satellites, four-time champions of the competition. A win would put the Congolese in the driver's seat for a quarter-final berth, and possibly a ticket to the U20 World Cup, scheduled in Chile from September 27 to October 19, 2025.
