On Saturday, May 3, the Sierra Leone U20 team continued their impressive start to the tournament with a 1-0 win over Tanzania on the third matchday of the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations. This marks their second consecutive victory in the tournament, placing the Sierra Leoneans at the summit of Group A.

Matchday 3 in Group A of the 2025 U20 AFCON pitted Sierra Leone against Tanzania this afternoon at the Suez Canal Stadium. In a nearly balanced contest, the Leone Stars fired off 11 shots with 6 on target, while the Tanzanians managed 9 attempts, 2 of which were on goal. It was in the first half that Samuel Armanki Gandi scored the game's only goal (37th minute) for Sierra Leone.

With one draw and two wins from their first three outings in the competition, Sierra Leone now boasts 7 points and sits atop Group A. Meanwhile, Tanzania suffers their second straight defeat.
