Cape Verde: two wins, six goals, zero conceded ahead of the 2026 World Cup

Cape Verde wraps up its preparations for the 2026 World Cup on a perfect roll. The Blue Sharks have strung together two consecutive victories, netting six goals without conceding a single one, just days before their debut in the tournament.

In their final phase of preparation, Cape Verde impressed with a 3-0 win over Serbia, followed by another convincing 3-0 victory against Bermuda. In their most recent match on Saturday, June 6, in the United States, the Cape Verdean squad once again displayed impressive collective control. The scorers on the day were Willy Semedo, Garry Rodrigues, and Da Costa.

The tally from these two matches: 6 goals scored, 0 conceded—a strong statement just days before the global showdown.

Building momentum after a tougher spell

This surge comes in stark contrast to the earlier phase of Cape Verde's preparation campaign. Before this winning streak, they had gone three matches without victory, notably drawing with Egypt (1-1) and Iran (0-0), and suffering a defeat to Chile (4-2).

Now in a much more favorable position, the Blue Sharks are heading into their first-ever World Cup appearance with growing confidence. They will compete in a tough group against Spain, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia.

The 2026 World Cup, organized by FIFA, will run from June 11 to July 19 across North America. Cape Verde will make its debut, aiming to extend this promising run of form.
