The Libyan club Al Ahly Tripoli released an official statement on Tuesday revealing the nature of the injury sustained by their Tunisian midfielder Ghailene Chaalali during the match against Al Dhahra, played as part of the 15th round of the Libyan championship. The encounter ended in a draw (1-1).

After a violent tackle by an opposing player, Chaalali was forced to leave the pitch prematurely, causing concern for his club and supporters.

A Serious Injury but No Surgery Required
According to the club's statement, thorough medical examinations, including an MRI, confirmed that Chaalali suffers from a medial collateral ligament injury in the knee. Fortunately, this injury does not require surgical intervention.

The former midfielder of Espérance Sportive de Tunis will need to undergo a rest and rehabilitation period estimated at a maximum of six weeks. His return will depend on the progress of his recovery.

The club's official statement specifies:

“The medical staff of our first football team confirms that the injury to player Ghailene Chaalali during the last match concerns the medial collateral ligament of the knee. This injury does not require surgical intervention, as confirmed by the MRI performed today. The player will need to follow a rest and rehabilitation period of up to six weeks.”
