Champions League: Aubameyang sets a record with OM
Scoring a brace against Newcastle on Tuesday night in the Champions League, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has claimed a major record with Olympique de Marseille.
OM delivered a historic performance in the Champions League yesterday against Newcastle. And this was thanks to a red-hot Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. At 36 years and 5 months old, the Gabonese striker became the oldest player to score a brace for a French club in the Champions League. This record is now etched in the history books.
The match actually got off to a rough start for the Phocéens, who quickly fell behind in the 6th minute to a goal from Harvey Barnes. "We didn’t start the match well. The first ten minutes, we could have done much better. We conceded that goal. Then we took control of the game," Aubameyang admitted to Canal+ at the final whistle.
