Champions League: Evan Ndicka and the 25 Giallorossi Selected by AS Roma

AS Roma unveiled their squad list for the 2026-2027 UEFA Champions League league phase this Wednesday. Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka is among the players selected by the Giallorossi for their return to Europe’s elite competition.

The Rome-based club has submitted its squad to UEFA for the new continental campaign. After several seasons in the Europa League, Roma are back in the Champions League, a competition in which they are set to make another appearance after their most recent participation in the 2018-2019 season.

Ndicka set for his second Champions League campaign

Evan Ndicka will be one of the African representatives in the Roma squad. The Ivorian international will return to a competition he already knows well. His first Champions League experience came during the 2022-2023 season with Eintracht Frankfurt, with whom he made eight appearances, all as a starter, providing one assist.

This season, the 26-year-old defender has already featured in Serie A for Roma. He has played two matches and 180 minutes, without scoring or registering an assist. However, he was left out of the squad for the trip to Lecce after suffering a muscular problem during the warm-up.

Last season, Ndicka was a regular under Gian Piero Gasperini. He made 31 Serie A appearances, scoring three goals, while also featuring 10 times in the Europa League and scoring twice.

Roma face a new European challenge

On their return to the Champions League, Roma will face several high-profile opponents in the new league phase. The Giallorossi will notably take on Paris Saint-Germain, alongside other teams drawn from the various pots.

The competition will begin in September, with Roma aiming to rediscover the atmosphere of a top-level European campaign. For Ndicka, the new adventure will also provide another opportunity to establish himself at the highest level of continental football.
