Champions League final: Hakimi shows PSG the way

PSG wasted no time making their mark in this European Champions League final. In just twelve minutes, Achraf Hakimi propelled his team toward (perhaps) seventh heaven.

Vitinha picked out Désiré Doué inside the box. The young forward held off the pressure and looked up. At his side, Achraf Hakimi made a surging run. The former Rennes player didn’t go it alone—he laid it off perfectly for the Moroccan, who only had to finish into an empty net. A goal of pure composure and teamwork. A flawless move, capped off with nerves of steel.

But the Parisians weren’t done yet. Eight minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé sparked a blistering counterattack. Doué—again at the heart of the action—was on the end of it. He cut inside and let fly. His shot, deflected by Di Marco, caught Yann Sommer off guard. Paris doubled their lead. 2-0 at halftime. PSG have one foot on top of Europe. But nothing is settled yet.
