Champions League: Vitinha doesn't see PSG as favorites
Tomorrow, PSG will head into their Champions League quarter-final first leg with confidence against Liverpool. However, Vitinha does not see the capital club as favorites in the UCL.
Last weekend, Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat to Manchester City (0-4) in the FA Cup. But on the eve of the showdown between the Reds and the Parisians in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Paris midfielder Vitinha refuses to accept the favorites tag against the Reds.
"It's you (the journalists) who say we're favorites, just like you said Liverpool were last year. It means absolutely nothing, we all know football well, you included. There are no favorites. Even if their form isn't ideal, they're still a great team with top players," declared the Portuguese midfielder.
Vitinha then reflected on last season's two-legged tie: "In the first leg, we had more chances, Alisson made a lot of saves. That's what we want to do again, but it's not easy. We did it last year but lost (0-1). There was some frustration at the end of the match. We told ourselves that playing like that, we could win the return leg, and we did (1-0, 4-1 on penalties). Now, it's a new year with changes in both teams. It's going to be a different match."
