CHAN 2024: Uganda looks to bounce back against Guinea

Tonight at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda is fighting for survival in CHAN 2024. The Cranes take on Guinea in their second Group C match.

The situation is crystal clear: only a win will keep them in the race. After suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Algeria in their opening game, Morley Byekwaso's men have no margin for error. The head coach refuses to dwell on the loss. “I prefer to focus on the future. We must win to keep our hopes alive,” he declared. Several players are still nursing injuries, but the coach hopes to have his full squad available.

Guinea, meanwhile, comes into the game brimming with confidence after their opening victory. Solid at the back and lightning quick on the counter, the Guineans know that a win would secure their place in the quarterfinals. Backed by their home crowd, Uganda will need to take risks and show a new side of themselves. The stakes couldn’t be higher for the Cranes: keep the dream alive or bid farewell to the tournament.
