Just days before the grand final of the Club World Cup against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea are facing uncertainty over Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuadorian midfielder suffered a left ankle injury during the semi-final victory over Fluminense (2-0). Coach Enzo Maresca addressed the situation on ESPN at the end of the match:

Moises has twisted his ankle. I told him not to make it worse, because we have a very important match on Sunday.

Having returned to the starting lineup after serving a suspension in the quarter-finals, Caicedo was forced to leave his teammates prematurely. Despite a brief comeback on the pitch, the pain proved too much. Chelsea had already used all five substitutions, leaving the team down to ten men until the final whistle.

I told him he must do everything to be ready for Sunday. We'll see,” Maresca added to DAZN. The potential absence of the London playmaker is a major blow for the Blues, who are targeting another trophy after an already successful season (top 4 in the Premier League, Conference League winners).
