Club World Cup 2025: Bounou named best goalkeeper of the tournament

Moroccan international Yassine Bounou sits atop the rankings for best goalkeepers at the 2025 Club World Cup.

The last line of defense for the "Lions of the Atlas" stood out for Saudi club Al Hilal during both matches against Real Madrid and Red Bull Salzburg in Group H.

The Montreal-born keeper registered the highest number of saves (11) according to statistics from “sofascore,” sharing this feat with Real Madrid’s star Thibaut Courtois.

Bounou also led the way for saves inside the penalty area (8), matching Juventus shot-stopper Michele Di Gregorio.

Since joining from Sevilla in 2023, the Moroccan goalkeeper has featured in 89 matches, conceding 80 goals and recording 35 clean sheets.
