Club World Cup 2025: Drogba delivers a powerful message to Africans!
As the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup approaches, Didier Drogba has delivered a powerful message to African representatives. The Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend spoke with great enthusiasm about this new, expanded edition of the tournament.
For the first time, 32 clubs will compete in this global tournament, now held every four years. Four African teams will take part: Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, Espérance de Tunis, and Mamelodi Sundowns.
For Drogba, this competition is a historic opportunity to showcase African football's potential against the world's top clubs.
Drogba: "It would be monumental for an entire continent!"
In an interview with FIFA, the legendary Elephant passionately encouraged clubs from the continent to believe in their chances:
"It's a unique opportunity to show what Africa has to offer. Why not dream of a world title?"
Drogba also referenced the inspiring runs of TP Mazembe and Raja Casablanca, who came close to making history. In his view, 2025 could be a turning point:
"To be crowned world champions against Real Madrid or Chelsea would be monumental for an entire continent."
The message is clear: African clubs must aim for the top.
