Club World Cup: Chelsea join Fluminense in the semifinals

There will be no all-Brazilian semifinal at the 2025 Club World Cup. Chelsea continue their run in the American tournament after knocking out Palmeiras this Saturday, July 5.

The London club came out on top against Brazil's Palmeiras (2-1), booking their place in the semifinals. Cole Palmer got the Blues off to a flying start, opening the scoring in the first half.

Back from the break, Estevão, the 18-year-old prodigy already set to join Chelsea this summer, leveled for Palmeiras.

But Brazilian hopes were dashed by an own goal from Agustín Giay, gifting victory to the English side.

Thanks to this victory, the Blues will face Fluminense in the semifinals, a red-hot opponent who have already knocked out Inter Milan and then Al Hilal. The showdown is set for Tuesday, July 8.
