Club World Cup: FIFA's idea to boost ticket sales

Faced with lukewarm enthusiasm for its revamped Club World Cup, FIFA is changing course. Due to unsatisfactory sales, it now offers priority, even guaranteed, access to the 2026 World Cup to boost ticket purchases.

The Club World Cup, expanded to 32 teams, will take place next summer in the United States. But despite the ambition of the new format, the public is slow to respond. To remedy this, FIFA offers two packages. The Ticket Pack, which includes up to three matches, provides the chance to buy a ticket for a 2026 World Cup match (excluding the final).

The Super Ticket Pack, on the other hand, covers 20 matches, including the club tournament's opening match or final and a semi-final. In exchange for unwavering attendance, the spectator is guaranteed access to the 2026 World Cup final. However, there is a condition: attending all matches in the pack. Tickets can be transferred to a friend under certain conditions. By banking on the prestige of the 2026 World Cup, FIFA hopes to salvage the image of a tournament still finding its footing. It remains to be seen if fans will take the bait.
