Al Ahly SC have reportedly decided not to extend the contract of Tunisian left back Ali Maaloul with the club also set to offload winger Ahmed Abdelkader in the upcoming summer transfer window.

End of an Era for Maaloul

Maaloul 35, sees his contract expire at the end of the current season. He joined the red devils in 2016 from CS Sfaxien and became key figure in their domestic and continental triumphs.

Despite serious Achilles tendon injury suffered last May and fallout with former coach Marcel Koller, Maaloul was later included in both local and continental squads. Under new coach Emad El Nahhas, he returned to the field recently and provided assist in 5 - 0 win after coming on as substitute.

However OnTime Sports reported that Al Ahly have made firm decision not to renew his deal. The veteran will also miss the 2025 FIFA Club World cup in the U.S, where Al Ahly are set to face Inter Miami on 14 Jun.

No Return for Abdelkader

Meanwhile Ahmed Abdelkader, currently on loan at Qatar SC, won't return to Al Ahly either. The club reportedly plans to sell or loan him again next season.

According to the same report, the club's now exploring respectful send off for Maaloul in recognition of his years of service.
