Cosafa Cup: Angola leads Group B after matchday 2
On Sunday, June 8, Angola dismantled Lesotho (4-0) at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Mangaung, during matchday 2 of the 2025 Cosafa Cup. Powered by a stunning hat-trick from Depú and a commanding team performance, the Angolans soared to the top spot in Group B.
Angola in steamroller mode
As defending champions, Angola gave Lesotho no chance last night. From the opening whistle, the Palancas Negras showed clear dominance on the pitch, sealing a convincing 4-0 win at the Mangaung stadium.
The opening goal came from Victor Pedro Nanque in the 42nd minute after a perfectly executed attacking move. Just two minutes later, Depú doubled the lead with an unstoppable strike. After the break, the star striker struck twice more (52', 90+4'), capping off a sensational hat-trick.
Depú makes Cosafa Cup history
With four goals in two matches, Depú becomes the first player to net a hat-trick in this 2025 edition. The 25-year-old striker from Portuguese club Gil Vicente matches the record for most goals scored by an Angolan player in a single tournament. His four goals put him alone at the top of the scorers’ chart.
With this win, Angola takes command of Group B with four points. Lesotho drops to second with three, while Mozambique and Seychelles are trailing behind.
