Dani Alves Acquitted and Awarded Compensation After 14 Months in Jail
Brazilian football legend Dani Alves's officially been acquitted of sexual assault charges in Barcelona and will receive financial compensation for his time spent behind bars.
According to Marca, Spanish judge ruled that Alves should be compensated 11,000 euro for spending 14 month in prison.
Why Was Alves Found Not Guilty?
The Catalonia High Court of Justice overturned the initial accusations citing contradictions in the alleged victim's statements and security footage that disproved the claims.
Alves' lawyer, Inés Guardiola expressed relief telling a Spanish radio station:
"We are very happy and I trust in the justice system"
Upon his release on 28 March, Alves returned to his home in Barcelona where he was welcomed by his close friend Bruno who had supported him throughout the legal battle.
Sources revealed that the Brazilian star celebrated with his partner Joana Sanz, the spanish model who stood by him throughout the case.

Alves was arrested in late Dec 2022 on allegations of sexual assault at Sutton nightclub in Barcelona.
He remained in prison for over 14 month until his recent acquittal.
