Egypt says no to Libya and Cameroon, sets sights on Comoros!
The Egyptian Football Federation (EFF) has rejected the idea of canceling the Pharaohs' training camp scheduled for June, despite the many expected absences. Among the players involved are several members of Al Ahly, as well as Omar Marmoush, Manchester City forward, and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool winger, due to their participation in the Club World Cup to be held in the United States.
The Pharaohs choose Comoros over Libya and Cameroon!
According to reliable Egyptian media sources, the national team's technical staff, led by Hossam Hassan, has decided: Egypt will play a friendly match against Comoros, likely in the capital, Cairo.
In the same vein, the coach has declined a proposal for a match against Libya, scheduled during the international break from June 2 to 10.
The same sources also reveal that Hossam Hassan expressed reservations about a clash against Cameroon, which was to be played in Qatar. This is despite an enticing offer from a sponsor: a $100,000 bonus, as well as full coverage of travel and accommodation expenses. The coach preferred to keep the preparations on Egyptian soil to motivate his players and take advantage of home support.
It should be noted that the Egyptian national team is coming off two consecutive victories, achieved last month during the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup: 2-0 against Ethiopia, then 1-0 against Sierra Leone.
