Tensions boiled over in Bilbao ahead of the highly anticipated Europa League final between Manchester United & Tottenham Hotspur as violent clashes broke out between rival fans in the city streets on Wednesday.

Street Fights Turn Ugly Before Kickoff

According to The Sun, several brawls broke out across different areas of Bilbao as around 70000 fans descended on the Spanish city for the showdown at San Mames Stadium.

Footage circulating online shows groups of fans from both clubs exchanging punches & throwing objects, prompting emergency calls to police reporting violence near Fermin Calbeton Street.

Tables, Bottles, and Chaos in the City

One disturbing clip shows man flipping cafe table off balcony and using it as weapon. Others hurled drinks & trash bins creating widespread panic and posing serious threat to local businesses.

Police Response & Injuries

Police units rushed to the scene to restore order. No arrests have been made yet but officers remain in place to monitor the situation. Paramedics treated several injured fans on site though none required hospitalisation.

Travel Woes Add Fuel to the Fire

Many fans endured 32 hour journeys to reach Spain avoiding sky high airfares from the UK that soared to over 1000 poud streling for the final. The stress of travel and high emotions may have contributed to the unrest.

As kickoff approaches authorities remain on high alert to ensure the final proceeds without further incidents.
